Puppy & Kitten Veterinary Care
Our veterinarians provide advice, guidance, and comprehensive veterinary service to our Gibsons clients during your kitten or puppy's pivotal first year of life.
Care for Puppies & Kittens
Bringing home a new kitten or puppy is a justifiably exciting time! You get to introduce this cuddly new member of your family to everyone you know.
As fun as your new pet may be, though, there is also some very important healthcare business you will need to take care of for them during their first year.
Your vet will develop a custom health care plan to meet your pet's specific needs during their first year, and provide you with plenty of support and guidance along the way!
Your Pet’s First Appointment
Puppies and kittens should have their initial veterinary appointment at eight weeks old.
During this first visit with us, your new pet will receive a comprehensive physical examination in order to determine their overall health and wellbeing. We will also check them for any parasites and congenital defects.
We will administer deworming medications as well as the first rounds of kitten or puppy vaccinations.
Finally, for kittens, we will perform a blood test to check for feline leukemia and feline immunodeficiency virus.
Our Commitment to Your New Puppy or Kitten
Bringing home a new puppy or kitten comes with a lot of new responsibilities.
To help you navigate your puppy or kitten's first year, our team will provide plenty of guidance, support, and helpful information.
Our veterinary team will be more than happy to answer any questions you may have and put your concerns to rest. We are dedicated to ensuring that your new puppy or kitten has everything they need to start their wonderful life with you.
Followup Appointments
Puppies and kittens should attend three to four veterinary appointments between the ages of eight and 16 weeks. These visits allow our vets to assess your pet's overall health and to administer vaccines on schedule.
